Nevada Real Estate Division (RED)
Nevada asks more of its salespersons than most states - 36 hours every two years on subsequent renewals, carved into six required categories, with at least half of it completed through live instruction. A self-study binge will not satisfy it, and neither will electives alone, because each named category carries its own minimum.
Here is the full category breakdown for subsequent salesperson renewals, with the live-instruction rule called out. Your first renewal after licensure follows a separate schedule, so confirm which one applies to you.
The base requirement: 36 hours across six categories
The Nevada Real Estate Division requires salespersons renewing after their first renewal to complete 36 hours of approved continuing education every two years. Those hours are pinned to six required categories rather than left fully open, so you build the total by satisfying each category first and then filling the general balance.
The required category breakdown
- Agency - 3 hours.
- Contracts - 6 hours.
- Ethics - 3 hours.
- Law and Legislation - 3 hours.
- Risk Reduction - 3 hours.
- General - 18 hours.
- Permit holders fold their permit-specific hours (for example, business broker or property management) into the general allocation.

At least 18 of the 36 hours must be completed through live instruction - in person or live online - so passive self-study cannot cover the whole requirement. Nevada salesperson licenses renew every two years, and proof of completion must be submitted to the Division before you renew. Note that your first renewal after initial licensure follows a different CE schedule than subsequent renewals, so check which applies. Long-tenured licensees who are 65 or older with 30+ years in good standing may apply for a reduced requirement.
How CredTally keeps this on autopilot
- Track 36 hours with a ring for each required category - agency, contracts, ethics, law and legislation, risk reduction, and general - plus a dedicated 18-hour live-instruction bucket so the delivery mix is never a surprise.
- Store each certificate as you finish, filed with the credit it proves.
- Reminders at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before your two-year expiration - early enough to line up the live courses, which are harder to schedule last minute.
- Licensed in Nevada plus another state, or also an appraiser or MLO? Each license has its own card, deadline, and reminders in one dashboard.
- One-click dated packet of summary plus certificates to submit to the Division, hand a broker, or answer an audit.
