The Idaho Real Estate Commission requires active licensees to complete 14 hours of continuing education each two-year renewal period: two different Idaho Commission Core courses plus 12 elective hours. The Idaho Core course rotates yearly
- You must take two different Idaho Commission Core courses per renewal period - the Commission develops a new Core each year, effective July 1, covering law changes, case law, and current hot topics.
- Core courses can never be taken more than once for credit, so each year's Core is a distinct requirement.
- Miss a year's Core and you cannot make it up with a later year's version - plan to take one Core course each year of your cycle.
- The remaining 12 hours are electives of your choice; no excess CE carries over to the next term.

Salespersons renewing on active status for the first time take the two Idaho Core courses plus 12 hours of Post License Education in place of the 12 elective hours. That post-license block must include the 8-hour Post License Fundamentals course plus one approved 4-hour post-license elective (such as pricing and marketing, professionalism and closings, or an introduction to commercial real estate).
